Verizon Settles V710 Bluetooth Suit (MobileBurn)
Based upon an agreement preliminarily approved by the court on September 2nd, the class action suit filed against Verizon Wireless by its Motorola V710 customers has been settled. The case was based on claims that Verizon Wireless misrepresented the Bluetooth capabilities of the Motorola V710 phone. While the V710, the first Bluetooth phone offered by Verizon, had full Bluetooth profile support as originally designed by Motorola, Verizon had certain profiles such as Dial-Up Network and OBEX Push disabled in its offering. The settlement offers either a $25 credit for customers that wish to continue their Verizon service, or the ability to return the V710 and any purchased accessories for a full refund so that a new phone can be purchased. If the class member does not wish to continue Verizon service, they can return the phone and accessories for a full refund and break their contract without a cancellation fee.
